# Check for updates

The `upgrade` command (alias `update`) checks whether the current CLI is behind the latest published version and, when it is, installs the latest version after confirmation.

## upgrade

Check and upgrade the AgentKit CLI to the latest published version. Run without options, it compares versions first and, if a newer one exists, asks whether to install it now.

| `--check` | Only check; do not install. Prints the available update and the install command | `false` |
| `--json` | Print the check result as JSON (`{ current, latest, behind }`) | `false` |

<Note>
  The upgrade runs the install script from the official release channel (equivalent to `wget -qO- <release>/install.sh | sh`). If the release channel is unreachable, the check fails; in that case, install manually using the command that `--check` prints.
