# Configure the cloud provider

`config` shows or changes the cloud provider and region for the current project. It can also manage user-wide defaults. Project settings are stored in `.agentkit/agentkit.yaml`; global settings are stored in `~/.agentkit/config.yaml`.

## config

Without `--global`, the command operates on the current project. When the provider or region changes, the CLI updates existing runtime, messaging, frontend, container-registry, and TOS regions. CLI-generated Dockerfiles, `.env.example`, and continuous-deployment files are updated as applicable.

<Warning>
  This command modifies project configuration and related generated files. Commit existing changes before switching providers, then review the resulting regions, images, and credential environment variables.
</Warning>

| Flag / Argument | Description | Default |
| - | - | - |
| `-g, --global` | Operate on user-wide defaults instead of the current project. | `false` |
| `-r, --region <region>` | Set the cloud region. | Current provider's default region |
| `-s, --show` | Show the scope, file path, provider, and region without modifying files. | `false` |

```bash lines theme={null}
# Show the current project
agentkit config --show
# Switch the current project to BytePlus
agentkit --provider byteplus config --region ap-southeast-1
# Set user-wide defaults
agentkit --provider byteplus config --global --region ap-southeast-1
agentkit config --global --show
```

Project mode requires `.agentkit/agentkit.yaml` in the current directory. Run `agentkit init` or `agentkit deploy config` first for an uninitialized project, or use `--global` when only user-wide defaults are needed.
