VeADK Java is an agent development toolkit for Java developers. It reuses ADK Java’s LlmAgent, Runner, session, and tool execution paths, then adds VeADK-style Agent.builder(), model defaults, metadata, tools, skills, memory, knowledge bases, observability, and AgentKit Runtime integration. VeADK Java 0.0.2 uses Maven coordinates com.volcengine.veadk:veadk-java:0.0.2 and requires JDK 17 or later.

Use Cases

  • Build Java agents that call models, function tools, Skills, knowledge bases, or memory.
  • Run one conversation directly in Java services with new Runner(agent).run(...).
  • Wrap ADK Java tools, SkillToolset, session services, and event-stream behavior behind VeADK Java entry points.
  • Run Java agents through ADK Web, a local CLI, AgentKit Runtime, or containerized services.
  • Add enterprise capabilities such as OpenTelemetry, APMPlus, TLS, LLM Shield, and identity authorization.

Core Modules

Current Scope

VeADK Java aligns with the Python version for core entry points such as Agent.builder(), models, tools, sub-agents, memory, and knowledge base metadata. The current README explicitly lists some Python-side capabilities that are not supported yet, including runtime=codex/piagent, enableResponses, aio_sandbox, enableA2ui, enableTunnel, YAML, and dynamic tool discovery.
