After installing VeADK Java, you can create and run agents in Maven projects. The current Preview uses the public Maven coordinates com.volcengine.veadk:veadk-java:0.0.2.

Prerequisites

  • JDK 17 or later.
  • Maven 3.8 or later, or the ./mvnw wrapper included in the source repository.
  • A model and API Key are required when you call a model. Adding the Maven dependency itself does not require model credentials.

Add the Maven Dependency

Add the dependency to your project pom.xml:
If Maven Central cannot resolve this version yet, build and install the source repository locally:
The source repository is a multi-module Maven project with core and example modules. The current version in the root pom.xml is 0.0.2.

Configure Model Credentials

The shortest path is to provide the Volcengine Ark API Key through an environment variable:
When Agent.builder() auto-creates a model adapter, model credentials are resolved in this order: Ark OpenAPI fallback also requires:
Do not commit real API Keys, AK/SK pairs, or tokens to source code, example configuration, or version control. Running examples sends prompts to the selected model service and may incur model usage charges.

Verify from Source

In the source repository root, run:
After the build completes, example/target contains the compiled artifacts needed by examples. To run examples, configure MODEL_AGENT_API_KEY or other credentials in the same terminal first.
