Install VeADK to create and run agents in Python. Start with a released PyPI package. Use a source installation when evaluating unreleased capabilities or changing the SDK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10 through 3.13, with pip available in that environment
  • An available model and API key to run an agent; installing the package does not require model credentials. See the Quickstart for Volcengine and BytePlus configuration

Install a released version

Create a virtual environment in your project directory to isolate its dependencies:
Activate the environment:
Install the latest release from PyPI and check the installation:
The second command prints the VeADK version installed in the current Python environment. The Python requirements and extras on this page were checked against release 1.1.13. Pin a verified version in production projects
Preview also describes capabilities marked as Unreleased in the changelog. Check the relevant page for version requirements and source installation instructions before using them. A capability documented in Preview may not yet be available on PyPI

Optional dependency groups

Install extras for the integrations you need. For example, install extensions for Feishu, Cozeloop, or LlamaIndex:
If you pin the base package, use the same version for extras, for example veadk-python[extensions]==1.1.13

Install the Preview source

Install Git and uv, then clone the public repository. Create an isolated environment inside the repository and install VeADK in editable mode:
If the capability’s page specifies a commit or tag, run git checkout <ref> first. Then create the environment and install:
To include an extra, replace the installation command with uv pip install -e ".[extensions]" Activate the repository’s .venv using the instructions above, then run the version check command. With an editable installation, changes to the repository’s Python source apply to that environment The main branch continues to change. Use the source revision specified by the relevant page when evaluating an unreleased capability. To run your first agent, see the Quickstart
