Supabase toolset

Overview

build_supabase_mcptoolset (from veadk.tools.builtin_tools.supabase_toolset import build_supabase_mcptoolset) quickly builds a tool set that accesses a Supabase MCP Server. It accepts a url and an api_key, and returns an MCPToolset instance you can register on the agent directly.

Prerequisites

Follow the Supabase MCP guide to obtain an MCP endpoint and a Bearer credential accepted by it. The URL is not a database connection string, and a database anon key is not automatically an MCP credential. This wrapper does not perform an interactive OAuth login; use suitable MCP client authentication when that flow is required. Set SUPABASE_MCP_URL and SUPABASE_MCP_TOKEN, restricting project scope and permissions as needed. These are application variables used explicitly by this example.

The function returns MCPToolset. Discover tools with await supabase_toolset.get_tools() before registering it with an agent, and call await supabase_toolset.close() on shutdown. Restrict write, migration, or deletion capabilities through endpoint permissions and tool filtering. Discovery alone requires no reasoning model.
